Neighbour Nosh ("we", "us", or "our") operates a smart, location-based food redistribution network that connects food donors with verified receivers nearby. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Neighbour Nosh Android application and related services, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using Neighbour Nosh, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Account information: your name, email address, phone number, and a profile photo if you choose to add one.

Verification information: for receivers, we collect the details needed to confirm eligibility. We retain only what is necessary to keep the network safe and trustworthy.

Location data: with your permission, we use your device location to match you with food donations and receivers nearby and to display accurate pickup distances. You can disable location access at any time in your device settings, though core matching features may not work.

Listing and activity data: photos and descriptions of food you list, pickup windows, reservations, messages, ratings, and the meals you give or receive.

Device and usage data: app version, device type, language, and basic diagnostics used to keep the service reliable and secure.

To connect donors and verified receivers in their immediate vicinity and to power location-based matching.

To verify accounts, prevent fraud, and keep the community safe.

To send transactional notifications such as reservation confirmations, pickup reminders, and important account alerts.

To measure and display your community impact, including meals rescued and emissions avoided.

To improve the app, troubleshoot issues, and develop new features.

With other users: when you arrange a share, limited profile details (such as your first name, rating, and an approximate pickup location) are shown to the other party so the handoff can happen safely.

With service providers: we work with trusted vendors for hosting, maps, notifications, and analytics who process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality obligations.

For legal reasons: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the public.

We never sell your personal information.

Our app and website use a small number of cookies and local identifiers to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand aggregate usage. You can manage these through your device or browser settings.

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and regular security reviews to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, but we work hard to safeguard your data.

We keep personal information only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.

You can access, update, or delete your account information at any time from within the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to request a copy of your data, object to certain processing, or withdraw consent.

Neighbour Nosh is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us so we can remove it.
